DOGS MASSAGE - Home Massage for YOUR YORKSHIRE TERRIER

Massage is a technique that will do much good to your dog whether or not HE HAS musculoskeletal problems.

You will develop a really special contact with your little male or female yorkie!

Personally, I find that a massage for my dogs once a week really relaxes my dogs!

There are different ways of massaging your dog. I will list some of them here.

Dog massage techniques- Method of massaging for dogs

1) Therapeutic massage
Fondling and stroking is in some ways a kind of massage to help relax your pet when you start any massage.

Now select the type of massage you want:
2.a) RegularMassage

Paste 2 or 3 fingers together and with small circular motion massage the muscles of your dog.

Increase the fingers pressure as and when you feel the muscles of your dog are more and more relaxed .

Use your other hand to hold your little doggie in the bed or to hold the part of the body that you are massaging, for example the leg.
2.b) Shiatzu - shiatsu
This technique where pressure is applied with the thumb to some specific point of the body is widespread and used in human massage.

Shiatsu literally means "finger pressure": the word "shi" means "finger" while "atsu" means pressure.

It can be very good and release tension of your pet.

Just like acupressure – and acupuncture – the practice of shiatsu suppose that the body consists of 14 meridians, which each meridian corresponding to a major organ of the body.

These 14 meridians serve as a channel through which energy or chi flows. An unhindered and balanced flow of chi in your body as in your little yorkie dog translates to good health.

Instead of your big thumb...you can use your index finger in the case of Yorkshire terrier because they are small dog!

Apply on specific part of your dog's body finger pressure for about 5 seconds.

We must apply the highest pressure that is confortable for your dog, without harming him of course!

( If you feel your dog's muscles contract under pressure, it indicates that you are pressing too hard !)
2.c) Muscles petrissage
Petrissage is a form of massage that is executed on a dog by grasping his muscles between the thumbs and fingers and kneaded, squeezed and rolled in an orderly fashion.

Any muscle of the body is grasped with the thumb and the index finger and the muscle rolled back on it with the thumb. Similarly, the thumb can be kept stationery and the muscle rolled back with the finger and the procedure is repeated 4-5 times for the desired results.
In fact, you pinch and lift the muscles to properly knead between your fingers.

It is a kneading stroke that is usually done on large, meaty muscles. It’s best to do it on the thickest area of the muscle. Calves, thighs, shoulders and arms respond well to petrissage. It is sometimes difficult to do petrissage on your dog's back.

Petrissage is usually concentrates on specific groups of muscles during therapy aiding in release of harmful toxins which are built up in the muscles from time to time. Petrissage is an intensive massage which effectively eliminates knots in the tissues.

Blood circulation is significantly enhanced which provides the recipient with relaxation and relief from pain and aches.

Petrissage techniques:

Any muscle of the body is grasped with the thumb and the index finger and the muscle rolled back on it with the thumb. Similarly, the thumb can be kept stationery and the muscle rolled back with the finger and the procedure is repeated 4-5 times for the desired results.
In fact, you pinch and lift the muscles to properly knead between your fingers.

We can hold the member that has been massage with the other hand and kneaded the muscles and tendons slowly.

3) We finish the massage ritual

To complete the massage ritual, pat your little yorkie on all the hair in the direction of hair from head to tail.
Do this a few times to transmit good healing energy to your dog. Wash your hands thoroughly at the end.
